Reidar Dittmann settled in Minnesota after surviving Buchenwald Concentration Camp during World War II. Dittmann’s story, documented in the film Prisoner 32,232, traces his life from Norway to Buchenwald to Northfield, Minnesota, starting as a student and then becoming a college professor.
He shares his experiences as a teenage boy, surprised to find the Nazis occupying his home country. He was arrested on three different occasions, the third resulting in his incarceration in one of the notorious concentration camps in Germany. Dittmann shares his experiences and the lessons that can be drawn from what he witnessed coming of age during the war.
